The Pie Shield is a dishwasher-safe, adjustable rubber collar that fits around the edge of the pie to protect the crust from burning.
Being exceptionally challenged when it comes to making foil rings (they always fall off and I burn myself trying to get them back on), my curiosity was piqued.

The verdict: SUCCESS! The Pie Shield rocked. It was simple to use -- even when the pie was piping hot in the oven.
This pie had a total baking time of 1 hour. I began baking with the Pie Shield in place and removed it after the first 20 minutes. I put the shield back on for the last 10 minutes of baking time, which would've been really hard with foil. I was able to lay the shield on top of the crust without touching the pie pan.
